All the symbols depicted in the hate symbols database must be evaluated in the context in which they appear. Few symbols represent just one idea or are used exclusively by one group. For example, 100% is often used as an amount or an expression and it is also used by some white supremacists as shorthand for "100% white." Similarly, other symbols in this database may be significant to people who are not extreme or racist. The descriptions here point out significant multiple meanings but may not be able to relay every possible meaning of a particular symbol.
Active Clubs are a loose nationwide network of local white supremacist groups that focus on fitness and physical training; members—who are primarily younger males—see themselves as fighters training for an ongoing war against a system that they claim plots against white people. Active Clubs also distribute white supremacist propaganda, participate in public demonstrations, and organize fight nights and MMA-style events.
The first Active Clubs emerged in early 2021, inspired by white supremacist Robert Rundo, who promoted the concept. Many are small and relatively short-lived but more continue to form. Every Active Club has its own unique logo, but most logos have a similar style, consisting of a round Celtic Cross symbol combined with the name of the club and a unique, sometimes locally-oriented graphic. The SoCal Active Club logo, for example, sports palm trees, while Arizona Action’s logo has the sunrays that appear on the Arizona state flag. Some Active Clubs integrate other hate symbols into their logos as well.
The Active Club concept has also spread beyond the United States to other countries.
